Abstract

This thesis is titled "Intergenerational Social Mobility in Rubber Farming Families in
Nanga Kalis Village of Kalis District of Kapuas Hulu Regency". The research method
used is qualitative. The data source is a rubber farmer in Nanga Kalis Village. Data
collection techniques are through observation, interviews and documentation. The
analysis in this study was presented descriptively, informants as many as 6 rubber
farmers. The problem in this thesis is "how intergenerational social mobility in the
rubber farming family of Nanga Kalis Village". With sub-problems: (1) How to form
intergenerational social mobility in the rubber farming family of Nanga Kalis Village;
(2) how the role of Education, employment and income for the occurrence of
intergenerational social mobility in rubber farming families. (3) Does intergenerational
social mobility cause changes in the social status of children of rubber farmers in Nanga
Kalis Village. The results of this study show that: social mobility experienced by rubber
farming families is vertical mobility up, vertical down and horizontal mobility between
generations; education, employment and income become determinants of
intergenerational social mobility in rubber farmers in Nanga Kalis Village; There is a
change in social status in rubber farmers' children as a result of intergenerational
social mobility.
