PENERAPAN WEEDING DALAM MENGOPTIMALKAN KOLEKSI PERPUSTAKAAN MAN 2 PONTIANAK

Abstract

This research aims to discover the implementation of weeding in the MAN 2 Pontianak
library, the criteria for weeding and the constraint in the weeding process at the MAN 2
Pontianak library. The research method used is qualitative. Data collection technique
are observation, interview with 2 informants, and documentation. The results of this
research showed that the weeding procedure in the MAN 2 Pontianak library is, the
officer chooses the collection on the shelf to be crossed, the officer collects the collection
that is removed from the shelf to be recorded, the officer records the collection to be
weeding, books that are removed from the collection in check how many copies, books
that can still be used by others, set aside after the data collection put in a box and
numbered , and lastly, the officer made news of the weeding event signed by head of the
library. The weeding criteria are age, use, physical condition, duplication, collection
feasibility, old curriculum, and outdated information format. While the constraints of
weeding implementation in the library MAN 2 Pontianak is time, staff, and pride of the
officers for the more collections, the better their library will be.
