Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the influence of professional competences and
achievement motivation toward job satisfaction of the State Senior High School
teachers in Ngabang district. The method of this research was quantitative approach in
which the questionnaires were used as the tools in collecting the data. The subjects of
this research were 106 State Senior High School teachers in Ngabang who are civil-
servant/non civil-servant teachers, aged 22-60 years old, 67 female and 39 male
respondents, having 2 years of minimum working period, and graduated of Bachelor
degree. The Slovin formula was used to determine the sample with 5% Margin of Error.
The results of the research were: (1) the teachers"™ satisfaction in the State Senior High
School was categorized very good in which the score was 49,50%; (2) the teachers"™
professional competences were also categorized good with the score was 51,88%; (3)
the teachers"™ achievement motivation was categorized very good in which the score was
66,25%. This research can be concluded that the teachers"™ satisfaction are influenced
by the professional competences and achievement motivation variables as much 27,80%
simultaneously and the rest 72,20% are influenced by other variables. The implication
of this research can be used as the input in improving the teachers"™ job satisfaction in
the State Senior High School in Ngabang district.
