Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the level of difficulty of multiple choice items for the mid-semester even grade IV assessment with easy, medium, and difficult categories. The research uses a qualitative approach with documentation research methods. The data collection technique is a documentation technique. The data analysis technique is the Miles and Huberman model with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that from the point of view of the questions before being tested on students, the difficulty level of multiple choice items was not proportional, while from the point of view of the results of the even semester IVB assessment, the difficulty level of multiple choice items was not proportional. Furthermore, the suitability of the level of difficulty of the multiple-choice items for the even midsemester assessment on the grid with the ready-made items is quite appropriate because of the 20 multiple-choice questions in theme 6, there are only 30% that have changed in level difficulty before and after being tested, while from the 20 multiple choice questions in theme 7 there were only 30% which experienced changes in the level of difficulty before and after being tested.
