This study discusses the Program to Increase Reading Interest in Students of SMKN 1 Pontianak. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the book companions program that was carried out in schools was good enough to increase reading interest in students at SMKN 1 Pontianak. This research uses qualitative methods and the type of research used is field research or field studies by collecting data through observation and direct interviews, and through documents. The aspect in this research is to increase the reading interest of students of SMKN 1 Pontianak, through the book companion program. The number of informants in the study was 3 people. The determination of informants is based on the researchers' assessment of the informants who are considered to be in charge of the data under study. The results showed that the book companions program was able to increase the reading interest of students of SMKN 1 Pontianak, good program management in increasing students' reading interest, and was able to encourage students to come to the library to read books and do assignments.
