Abstract

This research aims at determine positive emotions and negative emotions of characters in the novel Orang- Orang Biasa by Andera Hirata,and to know the implemention positive and negative emotions in the learning process of Bahasa Indonesia at senior high school / MA. The research method used descriptive method with a qualitative from of research. The approach used behavioralistic psycology approach. The source of this research data is the novel OOB by Andrea Hirata. The techniques and data collection tools used in this research are the study of documenters and researchers themselves. Data validity testing techniques used adequacy of references, triangulation, peer checking through discussion. Based on the data analysis, this research produces a conclusion as followes. (1) positive emotion of the novel OOB by Andrea Hirata the main and additional character have the emotions of love in the from of affection, sacrifice, joy and admiration.(2) negative emotions of the novel OOB by Andrea Hirata the main and additional characters have emotions fear, anxiety. Ager, and sadness. The main and additional figures are more dominant in vaving negative emotions than postitive. However, the negative emotion has major effect on behavior change and the mindset of the main character wiik be better.
