Abstract

Abstract

This study dicusses the analysis of language use in outdoor media which is seen based on
physical, language and legal aspects. The objects of this research are the physical, language,
and legal aspects of outdoor media: (1) nameplates for government and private institutions,
(2) nameplates for trading businesses, (3) signboards for places and directions, (4) nameplates
for lodging, (5) outdoor advertising media. This research uses descriptive and qualitative
methods. The source of data in this study is outdoor media in Melawi Regency which are seen
based on physical, writing/ linguistic aspects, and the legal position techniques used in this
study are observation and documentation. Data collection tools used in this study ware writing
instruments, measuring instruments, and cameras (Oppo F11). The data analyzed were 100
data processing object representasing the research domain under study. Based on the results
of data analysis, the total score for the physical aspect is 598, the language aspect is 475, and
the legal aspects is 565. After calculating the final score for outdoor media in Nanga Pinoh
District, Melawi Regency show the result is 523,3 which is included in the controlled criteria
V. Controlled criteria V is an area where the use of foreign languages is very controlled by
prioritizing Indonesian or regional languages.
