Abstract

The problem in this study is "How is the effect of using the picture and picture model on the skills of writing descriptive essays for class III of SD 27 Keranji, Kapuas Hulu". This study aims to describe the effect of using picture and picture model on student learning result on essay writing skills for class III of SD 27 Keranji.. This study uses an Experimental method in the form of a Quasi Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design using the SPSS 24 application. The sample in this study are class III A students as the experimental class, and class III B students totaling 25 people as the control class. The data collection are using observation sheets and tests. Based on the results of data analysis, the average pre-test for the experimental class was 53.38 and the post-test for the experimental class was 56.80. The average post-test of the experimental class was 76.83 and the post-test of the control class was 70.20. From the calculation of Effect Size (ES) is 0.38 including the medium classification. It shows that picture and picture model has a moderate effect on essay writing skills for grade III at SD 27 Keranji.
