Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the feasibility of the instrument used to
measure the conceptual understanding based on the SOLO taxonomy and to explain the
students' conceptual understanding identified by the test instrument based on the SOLO
taxonomy in the matrix material. The research method useddis the research and
development method (Research and Development or R&D).The type of research used is
instrument development. The instrument development procedure in this study refers to the
test development stage summarized by Tessemer known as formative evaluation. Tessemer
development consists of four stages, namely preliminary, self-evaluation, prototyping stage
(expert reviews, one-to-one and small group) and field test. The data collection technique
in thisstudy was a written test. Data collection toolsin this study, namely test descriptions
and cameras. The results of the data analysis of this study indicate that the test instrument
based on the SOLO Taxonomy to measure students' conceptual understanding in the matrix
material is included in the feasible category and students' conceptual understanding is
included in the low category.
