Abstract

Abstract

The focus of the research is the design and implementation of inculcating the character values of
responsibility and independence in thematic learning during the pandemic in class V of Sungai Raya
Kepulauan Elementary School. The purpose of the study was to analyze the design and
implementation of the inculcation of the character values of responsibility and independence in fifth
grade students of Sungai Raya Kepulauan Elementary School. This research uses descriptive
qualitative research method. The research subjects were teachers and students of class V Elementary
School. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews, observation and documentation.
The data analysis used is qualitative analysis. The research data shows that the inculcation of the
character values of responsibility and independence in fifth grade elementary school students in
Sungai Raya Islands has been carried out through thematic learning, by observing student activities
when doing evaluations at the end of learning. This study recommends that to instill character values
can be done at all grade levels and carried out since students come to school. The teacher's barriers to
instilling the character values of responsibility and independence are the impact of the pandemic
which requires students to study from home and restrictions on the time and number of students in one
class.
