Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to find out the errors made by students in solving arithmetic operations on
decimal numbers in class VII SMP Negeri 21 Pontianak. Data were collected through
student answers in the form of written questions in the form of essays. The method used in
this research is descriptive method. The data analysis technique that will be used in this
research is correction. Based on the results of the research that has been done on question
number 1 there are 80% errors, question number 2 is 73.3%, question number 3 is 73.3%,
question number 4 is 86.7% while question number 5 is 86, 7%. From the results of the study
it can be concluded that the mistakes that are often made by students are conceptual errors
and operational errors. This concept error, students do not understand the properties of
number operations and place values on the number itself. Meanwhile, students' operating
errors often make mistakes in calculating decimal numbers subtraction operations. It is
hoped that this research can be a reference in further research.
