Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to describe the social relations of futsal coaches and athletes at the
Borneo Inspire Soccer Academy in Pontianak City. The sub-problem in this research is
how is the form of power relations and the concept of discourse in training between futsal
coaches and athletes at the Borneo Inspire Soccer Academy in Pontianak City?. The
research method used is qualitative research. Data collection techniques used are
observation, interviews and documentation. The data collection tools used were
observation guides, interview guides and documentation. The analysis in the study was
presented qualitatively using 6 informants consisting of coaches, assistant coaches,
female futsal athletes and male futsal athletes. The results showed that the relationship
between coaches and athletes is often held relationships with each other which is done
verbally or sign. The power relations that occur in coach training have a social identity
that acts as a guide, supervisor and controller of the training program that has a big
influence on athletes. The concept of discourse in training is a social practice carried out
by coaches through ideas and concepts that influence the way athletes think and act in
training.
