GENERATING AND ORGANIZING IDEAS THROUGH CLUSTERING AND SENTENCE BUILDING TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ RECOUNT TEXT

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu siswa dalam mengelaborasi dan mengorganisir ide mereka untuk dibuat kedalam teks recount dengan menggunakan teknik clustering dan sentence building. Penelitian ini adalah sebuah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Kelas X C SMA Negeri 1 Teluk keramat, yang berjumlah 36 siswa.Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui ceklis observasi, catatan lapangan, dan tes. Data tersebut dianalisa dengan mendeskripsikan ceklis observasi dan catatan lapangan. Analisa data juga dilakukan dengan cara mencari nilai rata-rata dari tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam membuat teks recount meningkat dalam 3 siklus melalui teknik clustering dan sentence building. Peningkatan terlihat dari siklus pertama sampai siklus ketiga. Pada siklus pertama, nilai rata – rata siswa adalah 64,13; sedangkan pada siklus kedua, nilai rata – rata siswa 68,55; dan pada siklus ketiga nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat menjadi 79,02. Kata kunci: Clustering, Sentence Building, Teks Recount Abstract: This researchwas carried out to help students in generating and organizing their ideas to sompose a recount text through clustering and sentence building technique.It was a Classroom Action Research which was conducted in three cycles. The subject of this research was Class X C of SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Keramat which consisted 36 students. The data was collectedusing observation checklist, fieldnote, and test. The data was interpreted by describing the observation checklist and fieldnote. It also used mean score to scoring the test. The results indicated the students’ ability in composing a recount text improved in three cycles through clustering and sentence building technique. The students’ improvements were shown from the first cycle to the third cycle. In the first cycle, the students’ main score was 64.13; while in the second cycle, the students’ mean score was 68.55; and in the third cycle the mean score was 79.02.
