Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Group
Investigation learning model in improving student learning outcomes
in social subjects for class VIII at SMP Negeri 3 Jawai. This study
used quantitative methods in the form of experimental study, using a
pre-experimental design approach with a one-group pretest - posttest
design. The subjects in this study were in class VIII C, with 33
students. When conducting the study, the data collection techniques
used were measurement and documentary study, while the data
collection tools in the form of learning outcomes tests were pretest,
posttest and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis on
the normality test with a significant value of 0.196 > 0.05, it was
stated that the residual value was normally distributed. Followed by
hypothesis testing stated that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted
based on the sig value (2-tailed) on the pretest and posttest score
with a value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there was a
significant difference after using the Group Investigation learning
model with an average pretest value of 51.51 with a percentage of
completeness of 15.15% and a posttest of 81, 06 with a completeness
percentage of 87.88%. On the specified criteria, it fell into the high
category based on the effect size test of 1.97>1.00. As a result, the
use of the Group Investigation learning model in improving learning
outcomes in social studies subjects for class VIII at SMP Negeri 3
Jawai can be concluded to be effective.
