Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of Blended Learning, in this matter of is Google Classroom platform, in the teaching of speaking skills. To find out the outcome, this study executed a pre-experimental research design with the type of one-group pre-test post-test. The research samples were ten graders of SMA Santo Bonaventura Sambas acquired from purposive sampling. This study revealed that the leaded post-test provides improvements in English speaking aspects compared to the pre-test, such as fluency at 31,78%, pronunciation at 43,75%, accuracy at 48,97%, and performance skill at 33,89%. Moreover, the results of leaded pre and post-tests represent the significant differences between them based on the datum of the t-test (8,9) higher than the t-table (2,093). In addition to this, the test created for conducting this study has been categorized as reliable with a result of 0,972 and valid with the results of four very good items out of 5. Based on these data, it is concluded that the Blended Learning model using the Google Classroom platform was effective in improving students"™ speaking skills in terms of fluency, pronunciation, accuracy, clarity, and performance.
