EFEKTIVITAS METODE GUIDED DISCOVERY TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR PADA MATERI PLANTAE DI SMAN 9 PONTIANAK

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode guided discovery terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi plantae di kelas X SMAN 9 Pontianak. Bentuk penelitian adalah eksperimen semu (Quasi Experimental Design) dengan rancangan nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian adalah kelas XF sebagai kelas eksperimen (yang diajar menggunakan metode guided discovery) dan kelas XB sebagai kelas kontrol (yang diajar menggunakan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab). Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda berjumlah 20 butir. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh skor rata-rata hasil belajarsiswa pada kelas eksperimen adalah 13.79 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 10.94. Berdasarkan analisis uji U Mann Whitney menunjukkan bahwa Zhit(-4.91)< Ztabel(-1.96) sehingga dapat disimpulkan terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan metode guided discovery dengan yang diajarkan menggunakan metode ceramah dan tanya jawab. Nilai effect size yang diperoleh sebesar 1.87 termasuk dalam kategori tinggi sehingga metode guided discovery memberikan kontribusi sebesar 43.57% terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada materi plantae.

Abstract: This research aims to know effectiveness of guided discovery teaching method to students"™ learning result on learning Plantae. This research is a Quasi Experimental research with Non-equivalent Control Group Design. Students taken as research subjects are tenth grader students in SMAN 9 Pontianak (Senior High School 9 Pontianak), particularly students in XF as experiment class (class which is taught with guided discovery teaching method) and XB as control class (class which is taught with lecturing and discussion). Sample was taken with intact group method. Instruments used in this research are multiple choice questions as many as 20 questions. Based on data analysis result, the students"™ average score in experiment class is 13.79, and the student"™s average score in control class is 10.94. U Mann Whitney test analysis result shows that Zhit(-4.91)< Ztable(-1.96), and thus, it can be inferred that there is a difference in learning result between the students who are taught with guided discovery teaching method and the students who are taught with lecturing and discussion. Effect size value acquired is as much as 1.87 (categorized as high) and guided discovery teaching method contributes as much as 43.57% to students learning result on learning plantae.
