Abstract: In general there are two factors caused students experienced learning difficulties. They are internal factors and external factors. These factors caused difficulties in learning Chinese. At the end of study, the result are not so well. In this research the writer uses three methods: observation, questionnaires and interviews. This research was conducted on 5th grade students of SDK Immanuel II. Observation research found the factors of influence students' achievement and difficulties. Through observation and questionnaire, concluded that the 5th grade students of SDK Immanuel II are less active Chinese learner, they have difficulties to understand the teacher's questions, recognize and read the Chinese characters. The writer hope that research can inspire the Chinese teachers to find the solutions of difficulties in teaching Chinese.
