Karakterisasi Pola Distribusi Pori Karbon Aktif Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit Teraktivasi H3PO4 Berbasis Geometri Fraktal

Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang analisa citra SEM karbon aktif tandan kosong kelapa sawit menggunakan metode fraktal untuk menganalisis pola distribusi pori pada karbon aktif. Karbon aktif disintesis dari tandan kosong kelapa sawit menggunakan larutan H3PO4 (asam fosfat). Sintesis diawali dengan proses karbonisasi pada suhu 400ËšC selama satu jam, dilanjutkan dengan aktivasi kimia menggunakan larutan H3PO4 yang bervariasi: 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% dan 25%, kemudian diaktivasi fisika pada suhu 700ËšC selama satu jam. Karbon aktif selanjutnya dikarakterisasi menggunakan SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). Citra SEM karbon aktif dikarakterisasi dengan analisis fraktal metode box-counting untuk mendapatkan dimensi fraktalnya. Pengolahan citra SEM dimulai dengan mengubah citra menjadi grayscale, dilanjutkan dengan proses thresholding dan diakhiri dengan proses deteksi tepi citra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi aktivator H3PO4 yang diberikan (5% hingga 25%) menyebabkan ukuran pori karbon aktif semakin besar pula, namun jumlah pori tersebut semakin menurun sehingga distribusi porinya menjadi lebih teratur. Hal tersebut ditandai dengan menurunnya dimensi fraktal seiring dengan penambahan konsentrasi H3PO4.
