Kajian Elevasi Muka Air Laut di Selat Karimata Pada Tahun Kejadian El Nino dan Dipole Mode Positif

Telah dilakukan kajian tentang pengaruh El Nino and Southern Oscillation (ENSO) dan Dipole Mode (DM) terhadap elevasi muka air laut di Selat Karimata. Penentuan ENSO menggunakan data Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) dari tahun 1980 s.d 2010 sedangkan untuk DM menggunakan data Dipole Mode Indeks (DMI) dari tahun 1980 s.d 2009. Data prediksi pasang surut diperoleh dengan menggunakan ORITIDE. Selanjutnya membandingkan elevasi rata-rata muka air laut pada kondisi El Nino dan Dipole Mode positif dengan kondisi Normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada kejadian ENSO elevasi muka air laut tertinggi terjadi pada kejadian El Nino tahun 1997 bulan September sebesar meter . Pada kondisi Dipole Mode elevasi rata-rata muka air laut tertinggi terjadi pada kondisi Dipole Mode positif tahun 1998 bulan Maret sebesar meter. Pengaruh El Nino dan DM (+) tidak signifikan terhadap perubahan elevasi muka air laut di Selat Karimata, ditunjukkan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi (r) pada kejadian El Nino berkisar pada 0,07 s.d 0,29, sedangkan nilai koefisien korelasi (r) pada kejadian DM (+) bekisar 0,46 s.d 0,59.
