Abstract

The advancement of rocket technology is now the cause of research on solid propellant as rocket fuel. Activated charcoal acacia wood arrears in the select because of the large number of waste cut acacia wood that is not used. The manufacture of activated charcoal becomes an alternative to the utilization of acacia wood arrears waste. In this study, aimed to obtain the value of thrust, burning time and the specific value of impulses, third variables became parameters to determine the quality of solid propellant. Solid propellant is made with a mixture of potassium nitrate as oxidizer and activated charcoal acacia wood as fuel. The composition of solid propellant will be varied based on the volume of solid propellant. The following is a variation in the percentage of composition between activated carbon acacia wood "“ potassium nitrate (45%-55%), (40%-60%), (35%-65%), (30%-70%), (25%-75%). The results of solid propellant testing that has been conducted prove that the more precise the ratio between activated charcoal acacia wood and potassium nitrate, the better the quality of d solid propellant.
