Modifikasi Mesin Uji Tarik Kapasitas 5000 Newton Untuk Meningkatkan Nilai Keakuratan Pengujian

Tensile Testing Machine is one type of tool to measure the characteristic value of a material. The tensile testing machine in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tanjungpura University has a main frame dimension of 50cm x 30cm x 84cm which is basically not a manufacturer, so that when initial observations were made there were many shortcomings, ranging from holes in the frame plate that were too large, weak grip strength. The resulting test value is only able to produce the maximum tensile strength value. In this study, the tensile strength of the PVC material sample was tested, before and after the engine modification, and compared it with the results of the sample test in a standard laboratory as a reference. The test results before being modified, the maximum tensile strength test value (Ultimate Tensile Strength) of the sample was 32.3 MPa on average, or there was a difference of 20.72% against the reference test results. After modification, the average maximum tensile test result is 30.10 MPa, or there is a difference to the reference value of 12.5%. From the results of other modifications there is also an elongation value of 8.22%, and the measurement data is recorded in the form of a data logger so that it is possible to make a graph of the stress and strain relationship. The newly created chuck is also very strong and easy to use.
