Abstract

Global warming is a phenomenon of damage to ecosystems on earth which is characterized by an increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, sea and land on earth. Although transportation is not the main contributor to CO2 emissions, which only accounts for around 14% of total global CO2 emissions, what needs to be noted is that 95% of the energy used by world transportation depends on fossil fuels. The shift from conventional fossil fueled cars to electric cars is expected to reduce emissions generated by the transportation sector. In designing or building an electric car, it is necessary to analyze the level of energy consumption. This simulation and modeling will model the vehicle dynamics of the Kapuas 2 electric car using MATLAB/Simulink and analyze the driving method to obtain minimal energy use results. Modeling the dynamics of the Kapuas 2 electric car vehicle has been made using MATLAB/Simulink software and has been validated, where the simulation results have an error of less than 5% compared to the results of direct testing in the field. In this study, an analysis was carried out using two driving methods, namely the constant driving method and the stop and go driving method using three variations of speed. The driving method with the minimum energy consumption is the third variation of the stop and go method which has an energy consumption value of 62.44 km/kwh. The simulation results show that only the first variation of the stop and go method is able to reach the finish line within 25 minutes. Peak speed and minimum speed in the stop and go method need to be a concern so that it is not too high which causes a large use of energy, not too low in order to be able to reach the finish line according to the maximum travel time.
