The bending test equipment is used to test the bending strength of a material. Bending test is one form of testing to determine the quality of a material visually. Additionally, the bending test is used to measure the strength of a material under loading and the elasticity of the specimen. The purpose of this research is to design a bending test apparatus that utilizes a stepper motor as the driving motor and a PWM controller to regulate the speed and movement, along with a load cell as a measuring instrument. The apparatus also employs an Arduino as the reader of the load cell results. The research was conducted by cutting the UNP steel according to predetermined dimensions, then assembling the steel pieces according to the design and placing both axis beams. Subsequently, a stepper motor was installed to adjust the threaded position, and a pressing span was also attached. The other two steel pieces were mounted as supports for the material to be tested. After the apparatus was completed, the material testing was performed on aluminum 5083 with dimensions of 60 x 15 x 3 mm, following ASTM E290. The results of the tests conducted with the apparatus were compared with the reference modulus of elasticity values. The modulus of elasticity of aluminum 5083 was obtained from the test results as follows: specimen 1: 57 GPa, specimen 2: 59 GPa, and specimen 3: 58 GPa. After comparing the modulus of elasticity values between the created apparatus and the reference values, an average error of 17.14% was obtained.
