Abstract

Aluminium alloy 7075 is a lightweight metal material widely used in the automotive industry due to its high strength and corrosion resistance. However, its use as a material for shift fork components still has weaknesses, particularly in terms of surface hardness. This study aims to examine the effect of natural aging treatment on improving the hardness of aluminium alloy 7075. The method used was a laboratory experiment involving a solution heat treatment and quenching process, followed by aging for a specific duration. Testing was conducted using the Vickers hardness test. The results showed that the initial hardness value without treatment was 133.6 HV. After natural aging treatment for 11 days, the hardness value reached 187.3 HV, an increase of 40.2%. Thus, natural aging has been proven effective in enhancing hardness and is suitable for application in four-wheel vehicle shift fork components.
