Abstract

Batik is one of the heritages
in Indonesia that needs to be remained and
developed. There are several types and
patterns in traditional Batik that suit to the
philosophies and the customs of each region in
Indonesia. One of the Batik varieties in
Indonesia is based on the custom in West
Borneo. However, it takes a long time to the
batik designers in West Borneo in creating
new batik patterns.
This research is aimed to create a
software in resulting new varieties in Batik
patterns of West Borneo. Through this
software (BAKAT), the provided basic Batik
pattern (jpg) that is choosen by user will be
developed into the new patterns.
The validity of this Batik pattern
development software are tested through
blackbox method to identify whether the
application in this software work well or not.
The finding of this research reveals that
geometric operation in this West Borneo"™s
Batik pattern development software can result
new Batik patterns with 98,89% success rate.
