THE PATTERN OF LEISURE AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN KUPANG NOSTALGIA PARK PUBLIC SPACE
The phenomenon of rapid urbanization is causing significant changes in people's lifestyles. Urban environments have both positive and negative impacts, with the negative impacts affecting mental health and quality of life, which is currently a global priority. Several studies have shown that public spaces in urban environments can positively impact the mental health and well-being of residents. This study aimed to explore how individuals or groups of visitors spend leisure time to improve mental health and reduce stress caused by urban pressures. This research uses behavioural mapping methods to systematically observe human behaviour and movement concerning components and attributes of the built environment. Observation techniques focused on identifying activity patterns with mapping techniques to record visitor movements and activities over time. The results showed that most visits occurred on Saturdays and Sundays with users from children to parents; most users were teenagers and adults. In contrast, the activity categories of leisure utilization patterns and recreational activities in the public space of Taman Nostalgia are divided into light activities (leisure), light physical and social activities. These activities only occur in the physical setting available, so the variety of facilities needs to be increased so that more activities occur to improve the quality of life and community welfare.
